Summer means CPD & conference time, and I got to spend the weekend with colleagues in London this week for the 2025 Pink Therapy 2-day conference.

It was a jam-packed weekend, and highlights included Queering Psychoanalysis from Dr Nikolaos Souvlakis, Group Therapy skills with Tim Foskett and Niki D, research updates, and a very thought-provoking session on maintaining conversation in a polarised environment - reflecting on how we can talk to people who hold challenging and often painful opinions about marginalised groups.
I also had the opportunity to learn about the idea of Gender, Body, Kinship and Sexuality (GBKS), an anti-oppressive and anti-colonialist approach to diversity and difference, to avoid centering the "norm". I'm looking forward to finding out more about this as a concept, as it looks like psychotherapists in Australia are also moving towards this language:
Queering Yalom's Therapeutic Factors for Group Therapy. And bonus points for a new lanyard too.
