If you’ve read my thoughts on Getting ready for an Online Therapy session, you’ll know that thinking about the session beforehand can be an important part of the process
If you are coming to see me in-person, it will most likely be at therapy rooms in Lewes or Brighton.
Both of my rooms are designed to be welcoming, accessible, and as adaptable as I’m able to be for people’s needs. I love to hear from people about how I can make the space work for you – so please do tell me!
Planning your journey
I will always aim to give you travel information, to help plan your route, and pictures of the building to help you recognise it!
There is public transport available, both bus and train, and some limited parking spaces available close by (you may have to pay for parking).
I will also give you a phone number that you can use when you are travelling to the venue for your first session – just in case.
When should you arrive?
I normally recommend aiming to arrive 5-10 minutes before your session time, so that you’re not feeling too rushed or stressed. I won’t be able to let you in to the building immediately, if I’m in another meeting – so do bear that in mind if it’s dark or if the weather is bad.
If you arrive very early, you may want to find another place to wait until I can come and let you in.
What to bring / what to wear?
Please do focus on being comfortable, and thinking about any sensory needs you have. If we are going to be doing creative movement psychotherapy, then especially think about wearing comfy clothes.
You are very welcome to bring your own water bottle, although I should always have water in the room too. I also usually have some stim / fidget toys, and a range of art materials in case we want to draw.
If you have an object that you want to bring to the session – please do. You can always check with me if you’re not sure. You can also decide if you want to bring a journal or notebook, to write down thoughts during the session or refer back to notes you’ve made before.
How can we change the room around?
There are some things that we have control over – which lights we have on (the big light or lamps), which chairs we sit in, whereabouts we put the chairs in the room.
Temperature can be a tricky thing to change during the session, so maybe think about clothing layers if you get too hot or too cold.
Air flow is something that we can control – as we can turn the fan on, or open a window.
When can you find me there?
I work at Lewes Therapy Centre in Lewes town centre on Tuesday evenings,
between 6pm – 9pm.
I work at the Brighthelm Centre in Brighton city centre on Wednesday afternoons,
between 1:30pm – 8pm.
